11. Third-Party Links and Resources

Where our Site contains links to other sites and resources provided by third parties (including government portals, industry bodies, or news outlets), these links are provided for your information only. Your use of this Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. We collect and process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, and our Privacy Policy fully details our use of cookies and tracking technologies under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). Please review our Privacy Policy to understand our practices.

14. Marketing, Advertising & Cross-Platform Use

By submitting information through this Site (including via our Issue Prioritisation survey, contact forms, or any registration process), you acknowledge that Alcohol Ltd may use that information for marketing and advertising purposes across our group of websites and affiliated platforms, which currently includes but is not limited to alcohol.uk, alcohol.co.uk, booze.co.uk, and bars.co.uk (collectively, the "Group Sites").

This may include the use of your data to serve targeted advertising, personalised content, and industry communications relevant to your stated sector and interests, both on Group Sites and via third-party advertising platforms and networks acting as our data processors.

Where we rely on your consent as the lawful basis for such processing (as required under UK GDPR and PECR), we will seek that consent explicitly and you may withdraw it at any time by contacting us at compliance@alcohol.uk or by updating your preferences via the cookie consent mechanism on this Site. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out prior to withdrawal.

Where we rely on our legitimate interests as the lawful basis for processing (for example, for B2B marketing to industry professionals who have engaged with our services), we have conducted and documented a Legitimate Interests Assessment (LIA). You retain the right to object to such processing at any time. Full details of our data sharing practices, retention periods, and your rights are set out in our Privacy Policy.

15. Complaints

If you have a complaint about our Site, its content, or our conduct, please refer to our Complaints Process. We maintain a complaints log and are committed to resolving all complaints promptly and fairly. All formal complaints should be submitted in writing to compliance@alcohol.uk.

16. Transparency & Financial Interests

In the interests of transparency, details of the financial interests of Alcohol Ltd's directors and relevant personnel are publicly available on our Financial Interests Register. We are also registered with the ORCL as a consultant lobbyist, and our registration details are publicly accessible.

17. General Provisions

  • Severability: If any provision of these Terms is invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, it shall be deemed modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.
  • Waiver: A failure or delay by us to exercise any right or remedy shall not constitute a waiver of that right or remedy.
  • Entire Agreement: These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and us in relation to your use of the Site and supersede all previous agreements relating to its subject matter.

18. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms of Use, their subject matter and their formation (and any non-contractual disputes or claims) are governed by English law. We both agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

19. International Users and Access from Outside the United Kingdom

This Site is operated from the United Kingdom and is directed primarily at professionals, stakeholders, researchers, and interested parties within the UK alcohol industry. Alcohol Ltd makes no representation that the content, materials, or services described on this Site are appropriate, lawful, or available in any jurisdiction outside the United Kingdom.

19.1 Access at Your Own Risk

If you access this Site from outside the United Kingdom, you do so entirely at your own initiative and at your own risk. You are solely responsible for determining whether your use of this Site complies with the laws, regulations, and local requirements applicable in your jurisdiction. Alcohol Ltd accepts no responsibility for any consequences – legal, regulatory, commercial, or otherwise – arising from your access to or use of this Site in any jurisdiction outside the United Kingdom.

19.2 No Offer or Solicitation Outside the UK

Nothing on this Site constitutes an offer, solicitation, or invitation to engage in any advocacy, membership, lobbying, commercial, or regulated activity in any jurisdiction outside the United Kingdom. The Site is not directed at, and should not be relied upon by, persons in any jurisdiction where such reliance would be unlawful, would require Alcohol Ltd to register, licence, or comply with any local requirement to which it is not currently subject, or would otherwise expose Alcohol Ltd to any regulatory obligation outside England and Wales.

19.3 Age Verification – Jurisdiction Variance

The minimum lawful age for accessing alcohol-related industry content varies across jurisdictions. In some countries, the legal age is 21 or higher. By accessing this Site from outside the United Kingdom, you confirm that you meet both the UK minimum access age of 18 years and any higher minimum age requirement applicable under the laws of your jurisdiction. Alcohol Ltd is not responsible for ensuring compliance with local age restrictions for international users. Access by persons below the legal drinking or majority age in their jurisdiction is prohibited and constitutes a breach of these Terms.

19.4 EU and EEA Users – Data Protection

The European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision (in force since 28 June 2021, as extended) confirming that the United Kingdom provides an adequate level of protection for personal data transferred from the European Union and European Economic Area. Personal data submitted through this Site by EU/EEA residents will be processed by Alcohol Ltd in accordance with the UK GDPR and UK Data Protection Act 2018, and is transferred to the United Kingdom under the applicable adequacy framework. EU/EEA residents retain all rights conferred by the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679), including rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection to processing. Requests in relation to EU GDPR rights should be directed in writing to compliance@alcohol.uk. EU/EEA residents may additionally lodge a complaint with their national data protection supervisory authority if they consider that their rights under EU GDPR have been infringed. Alcohol Ltd’s UK ICO registration (No. ZC093590) covers its UK data processing obligations and does not extend to acting as an EU GDPR representative; EU residents retain direct recourse to their competent supervisory authority.

19.5 United States Users

This Site is not directed at residents of the United States of America. The advocacy and lobbying content on this Site relates exclusively to UK domestic alcohol policy and UK export trade policy and does not address, concern, or relate to any US regulatory, legislative, federal, or state matter. Alcohol Ltd is not registered under the Foreign Agents Registration Act 1938 (FARA), the Lobbying Disclosure Act 1995, or any US state lobbying statute, as none of these instruments applies to Alcohol Ltd’s activities. Alcohol Ltd does not contact, lobby, or seek to influence any US government official, legislator, regulator, or government body. Users accessing this Site from the United States do so solely for general informational purposes and entirely at their own risk. No content on this Site should be construed as an offer to provide services, advocacy, or representation in the United States or to any US-domiciled party.

19.6 Other International Jurisdictions

Alcohol Ltd makes no warranty that this Site or its content is compliant with, or exempt from, the laws of any jurisdiction other than England and Wales.

19.7 No Equivalence with Local Consumer or Statutory Protections

International users should note that UK statutory consumer protections – including the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, and equivalent statutory rights – may not apply to your use of this Site if you are accessing from a jurisdiction outside the United Kingdom, or may apply only in modified form. You should obtain independent legal advice in your own jurisdiction before relying on any content on this Site. Alcohol Ltd makes no warranty of equivalence between these Terms and any mandatory consumer or user-rights protections applicable in your jurisdiction.
