UK & International Alcohol Policy Research
Research UK and international alcohol policy questions using published evidence and clearly referenced analysis.
The commission
What the work covers
Research a defined alcohol policy question in the UK and international markets, with the countries and topics agreed in the brief. Review official publications, legislation, public consultation documents, parliamentary material and relevant published research. Explain the quality of the evidence, areas of agreement and questions that remain unresolved, with clear source references.
How we approach the work
- Agree the research question, countries covered, reporting period and intended use.
- Review attributable publications and document source selection and quality.
- Synthesise findings and distinguish documented facts, interpretation and open questions.
Scope and boundaries
Research uses published sources, clear references and evidence-led conclusions. International work excludes preparing, submitting or arranging advocacy to non-UK public authorities. Any UK client representations require a separate agreed mandate and applicable registration and disclosure checks.

Scope and independence
Lobbying and representation before public authorities are delivered directly by Alcohol Ltd within the UK and only in relation to UK public bodies. We do not undertake or arrange lobbying of foreign governments, legislatures, regulators or international public bodies, directly, remotely or through intermediaries.
International work covers research, commercial analysis, media, publishing and private-sector trade event support. It excludes campaigns to influence non-UK public decisions, representation to non-UK public authorities and arranging others to provide those services.
Published research identifies sources, dates and uncertainties. Any UK client representations are separately agreed, with client identity, conflicts and applicable registration and disclosure requirements checked before contact. Commissioning research does not purchase a predetermined policy conclusion.
Client approval concerns commissioned deliverables and factual checks. Editors retain responsibility for independent publication, corrections and removal decisions. A commercial commission does not buy favourable independent coverage, the suppression of legitimate reporting, editorial endorsement or control over our policy positions. Confidential journalistic sources are not made available through commercial client approval.
Our regulated editorial material follows the Editors' Code of Practice, including accuracy, distinguishing fact from opinion and conjecture, privacy and timely corrections with due prominence. IPSO regulates editorial material within its remit; it does not approve our consultancy, research, PR or lobbying services. Advertising is clearly identified where applicable.
Appointments require an agreed written brief and checks on the client, conflicts, sanctions and any applicable registration, disclosure, data-use and permission requirements before work begins. Scope, fees and responsibilities are agreed separately, subject to our service and jurisdictional terms.
