International Media Landscape Reviews for Alcohol Businesses

Review published alcohol trade media, audience information and editorial formats in the UK and selected international markets.

The commission

What the work covers

Review the alcohol trade media landscape in the UK and selected international markets against an agreed business question. Map relevant publications, professional platforms, editorial subjects and commercial formats using published material and information supplied by publishers.

Compare observable coverage, languages, publishing schedules and stated audiences, identifying the source, date and limits of each observation. Distinguish publisher claims and estimated audience figures from independently verified measures. The review helps clients plan further private-sector media discussions and research within the selected markets, subject to applicable local laws.

How we approach the work

  1. Agree the UK and international markets, alcohol categories, audiences and comparison criteria.
  2. Review published sources and permitted publisher data, recording dates and attribution.
  3. Compare documented findings and identify audience claims, rights and commercial details needing confirmation.

Scope and boundaries

A review does not verify every publisher claim, guarantee coverage or authorise advertising bookings, source republication or marketing to named contacts. Any later booking or outreach requires its own agreed scope, local-law and permission checks. UK lobbying requires a separate agreed mandate, direct delivery in the UK and applicable registration and disclosure checks; overseas lobbying, political campaigns and public-authority representation are excluded, directly, remotely or through others. Client, ownership and funding checks apply before appointment.

Scope and independence

Lobbying and representation before public authorities are delivered directly by Alcohol Ltd within the UK and only in relation to UK public bodies. We do not undertake or arrange lobbying of foreign governments, legislatures, regulators or international public bodies, directly, remotely or through intermediaries.

International work covers research, commercial analysis, media, publishing and private-sector trade event support. It excludes campaigns to influence non-UK public decisions, representation to non-UK public authorities and arranging others to provide those services.

Commercial campaigns are reviewed for applicable advertising, audience, territory and claims rules; a trade audience is not a blanket exemption from alcohol advertising restrictions. Media bookings and event suppliers need agreed budgets, permissions and proportionate anti-bribery controls. Event representation covers approved information-only presentations and commercial discussions. It excludes offering or exposing alcohol for wholesale sale, sales negotiation, order-taking, supply and arranging wholesale sales. Event agendas and facilitated discussions exclude exchanges of competitors' non-public pricing intentions, output plans and commercial strategies.

Client approval concerns commissioned deliverables and factual checks. Editors retain responsibility for independent publication, corrections and removal decisions. A commercial commission does not buy favourable independent coverage, the suppression of legitimate reporting, editorial endorsement or control over our policy positions. Confidential journalistic sources are not made available through commercial client approval.

Our regulated editorial material follows the Editors' Code of Practice, including accuracy, distinguishing fact from opinion and conjecture, privacy and timely corrections with due prominence. IPSO regulates editorial material within its remit; it does not approve our consultancy, research, PR or lobbying services. Advertising is clearly identified where applicable.

Appointments require an agreed written brief and checks on the client, conflicts, sanctions and any applicable registration, disclosure, data-use and permission requirements before work begins. Scope, fees and responsibilities are agreed separately, subject to our service and jurisdictional terms.
