The commission
What the work covers
Review official tariff, origin and market access publications for specified products, destinations and trading routes. Document the relevant assumptions and point out classification or procedural questions for a customs or legal adviser.
How we approach the work
- Confirm product details, proposed classifications and trading route.
- Review official published trade and tariff information.
- Explain findings and flag decisions requiring professional confirmation.
Scope and boundaries
Market access work examines published requirements. It does not include negotiating tariffs, approaching non-UK authorities or obtaining approvals for clients. Product classification, declarations and customs decisions need confirmation from the relevant authority or appointed specialist.

Scope and independence
Lobbying and representation before public authorities are delivered directly by Alcohol Ltd within the UK and only in relation to UK public bodies. We do not undertake or arrange lobbying of foreign governments, legislatures, regulators or international public bodies, directly, remotely or through intermediaries.
International work covers research, commercial analysis, media, publishing and private-sector trade event support. It excludes campaigns to influence non-UK public decisions, representation to non-UK public authorities and arranging others to provide those services.
Published research identifies sources, dates and uncertainties. Any UK client representations are separately agreed, with client identity, conflicts and applicable registration and disclosure requirements checked before contact. Commissioning research does not purchase a predetermined policy conclusion.
Client approval concerns commissioned deliverables and factual checks. Editors retain responsibility for independent publication, corrections and removal decisions. A commercial commission does not buy favourable independent coverage, the suppression of legitimate reporting, editorial endorsement or control over our policy positions. Confidential journalistic sources are not made available through commercial client approval.
Our regulated editorial material follows the Editors' Code of Practice, including accuracy, distinguishing fact from opinion and conjecture, privacy and timely corrections with due prominence. IPSO regulates editorial material within its remit; it does not approve our consultancy, research, PR or lobbying services. Advertising is clearly identified where applicable.
Appointments require an agreed written brief and checks on the client, conflicts, sanctions and any applicable registration, disclosure, data-use and permission requirements before work begins. Scope, fees and responsibilities are agreed separately, subject to our service and jurisdictional terms.
