International Alcohol Market Awareness Briefings
Build a clear view of alcohol trade conditions, channels and cultural context in the UK and selected international markets.
The commission
What the work covers
Prepare a dated commercial briefing for alcohol brands, producers and trade organisations considering the UK or selected international markets. Review published official information and appropriately licensed sector sources to explain category context, trade channels, business practices and relevant market developments. Agree the countries, products and questions in the brief.
Present cultural context with accuracy and respect, helping UK brands understand markets abroad and international brands understand the UK. Explain relevant drinks traditions and commercial expectations using identified sources, while recording differences within markets and questions that need local confirmation.
Bring the findings into an accessible orientation for adult trade audiences, with clear references, dates and limitations. The briefing supports mutual understanding and informed planning. Detailed entry modelling and original audience surveys are separate research commissions; clients obtain project-specific regulatory advice from their appointed qualified advisers.
How we approach the work
- Agree the UK and selected international markets, products, adult trade audiences and briefing questions.
- Review published and licensed information, checking dates, source coverage and the basis for cultural observations.
- Prepare the briefing, explain uncertainties and identify practical questions for further research or local advice.
Scope and boundaries
Work is subject to applicable local laws and permitted source use. Findings provide dated commercial and cultural context, not legal opinions, trading permissions or guaranteed market outcomes. Any personal data requires an applicable lawful basis and appropriate privacy arrangements. Overseas lobbying, campaigns to influence non-UK public decisions and representation to non-UK public authorities are excluded, directly, remotely and through third parties. UK lobbying requires a separate mandate, direct delivery in the UK and applicable registration and disclosure checks.

Scope and independence
Lobbying and representation before public authorities are delivered directly by Alcohol Ltd within the UK and only in relation to UK public bodies. We do not undertake or arrange lobbying of foreign governments, legislatures, regulators or international public bodies, directly, remotely or through intermediaries.
International work covers research, commercial analysis, media, publishing and private-sector trade event support. It excludes campaigns to influence non-UK public decisions, representation to non-UK public authorities and arranging others to provide those services.
Commercial research uses sources and documents whose disclosure and use are permitted for the project. Personal data needs an appropriate lawful basis, privacy information and any applicable overseas-transfer safeguards. Investment recommendations, investment transaction arrangements, financial audits and compliance certification are outside this research service.
Client approval concerns commissioned deliverables and factual checks. Editors retain responsibility for independent publication, corrections and removal decisions. A commercial commission does not buy favourable independent coverage, the suppression of legitimate reporting, editorial endorsement or control over our policy positions. Confidential journalistic sources are not made available through commercial client approval.
Our regulated editorial material follows the Editors' Code of Practice, including accuracy, distinguishing fact from opinion and conjecture, privacy and timely corrections with due prominence. IPSO regulates editorial material within its remit; it does not approve our consultancy, research, PR or lobbying services. Advertising is clearly identified where applicable.
Appointments require an agreed written brief and checks on the client, conflicts, sanctions and any applicable registration, disclosure, data-use and permission requirements before work begins. Scope, fees and responsibilities are agreed separately, subject to our service and jurisdictional terms.
