International Alcohol Trade & Policy Briefings
Understand UK and international alcohol trade and policy developments through dated, sourced briefings on selected markets.
The commission
What the work covers
Prepare clear briefings on published trade arrangements, alcohol policy developments and market requirements in the UK and selected international markets. Review attributable official sources, legislation, consultations and public trade notices, distinguishing current requirements from proposals and commentary.
Explain relevant context for brands trading in both directions, including the UK nations or overseas jurisdictions covered. The aim is to support informed commercial planning and respectful understanding of different markets. Each briefing records dates, source coverage, uncertainties and questions needing advice from qualified local specialists.
How we approach the work
- Agree the countries, alcohol categories, commercial questions, reporting period and intended use.
- Review attributable official publications and record the status, dates and territorial scope of each development.
- Explain the findings and limitations, identify specialist questions and deliver the agreed briefing or update schedule.
Scope and boundaries
This is published-source research, not a legal opinion, customs or tax advice, compliance certification or a guarantee of market access. Briefings are current only to their stated review date; updates are supplied only on an agreed schedule. The service does not include preparing or delivering advocacy, obtaining approvals or representing clients before public authorities. Any UK lobbying requires a separate mandate, direct delivery in the UK and applicable registration and disclosure checks. Lobbying of non-UK public bodies, remotely, in person or through others, and campaigns intended to influence non-UK public decisions are excluded.

Scope and independence
Lobbying and representation before public authorities are delivered directly by Alcohol Ltd within the UK and only in relation to UK public bodies. We do not undertake or arrange lobbying of foreign governments, legislatures, regulators or international public bodies, directly, remotely or through intermediaries.
International work covers research, commercial analysis, media, publishing and private-sector trade event support. It excludes campaigns to influence non-UK public decisions, representation to non-UK public authorities and arranging others to provide those services.
Published research identifies sources, dates and uncertainties. Any UK client representations are separately agreed, with client identity, conflicts and applicable registration and disclosure requirements checked before contact. Commissioning research does not purchase a predetermined policy conclusion.
Client approval concerns commissioned deliverables and factual checks. Editors retain responsibility for independent publication, corrections and removal decisions. A commercial commission does not buy favourable independent coverage, the suppression of legitimate reporting, editorial endorsement or control over our policy positions. Confidential journalistic sources are not made available through commercial client approval.
Our regulated editorial material follows the Editors' Code of Practice, including accuracy, distinguishing fact from opinion and conjecture, privacy and timely corrections with due prominence. IPSO regulates editorial material within its remit; it does not approve our consultancy, research, PR or lobbying services. Advertising is clearly identified where applicable.
Appointments require an agreed written brief and checks on the client, conflicts, sanctions and any applicable registration, disclosure, data-use and permission requirements before work begins. Scope, fees and responsibilities are agreed separately, subject to our service and jurisdictional terms.
