UK Alcohol Licensing & Local Market Research

Review published alcohol licensing information and local trading conditions for proposed UK premises or operations.

The commission

What the work covers

Review relevant published licensing policies, public registers and local market information for an agreed area. Explain how requirements vary by location and identify questions to take to the relevant authority or qualified adviser.

How we approach the work

  1. Define the activity, premises area and intended trading model.
  2. Review current authority publications and relevant local evidence.
  3. Present findings and flag matters requiring direct confirmation.

Scope and boundaries

This service reviews published UK licensing information and local market conditions. It does not include licence applications, hearings, appeals or representation to licensing authorities. Clients confirm requirements with the relevant authority or their appointed advisers.

Scope and independence

Lobbying and representation before public authorities are delivered directly by Alcohol Ltd within the UK and only in relation to UK public bodies. We do not undertake or arrange lobbying of foreign governments, legislatures, regulators or international public bodies, directly, remotely or through intermediaries.

International work covers research, commercial analysis, media, publishing and private-sector trade event support. It excludes campaigns to influence non-UK public decisions, representation to non-UK public authorities and arranging others to provide those services.

Published research identifies sources, dates and uncertainties. Any UK client representations are separately agreed, with client identity, conflicts and applicable registration and disclosure requirements checked before contact. Commissioning research does not purchase a predetermined policy conclusion.

Client approval concerns commissioned deliverables and factual checks. Editors retain responsibility for independent publication, corrections and removal decisions. A commercial commission does not buy favourable independent coverage, the suppression of legitimate reporting, editorial endorsement or control over our policy positions. Confidential journalistic sources are not made available through commercial client approval.

Our regulated editorial material follows the Editors' Code of Practice, including accuracy, distinguishing fact from opinion and conjecture, privacy and timely corrections with due prominence. IPSO regulates editorial material within its remit; it does not approve our consultancy, research, PR or lobbying services. Advertising is clearly identified where applicable.

Appointments require an agreed written brief and checks on the client, conflicts, sanctions and any applicable registration, disclosure, data-use and permission requirements before work begins. Scope, fees and responsibilities are agreed separately, subject to our service and jurisdictional terms.
