The commission

What the work covers

Research the roles of importers, distributors, wholesalers, retailers, hospitality operators and relevant online channels. Compare observable channel structures, product positioning and business requirements using attributable commercial and official sources.

How we approach the work

  1. Define the country, products and target business channels.
  2. Review published channel evidence and authorised commercial materials.
  3. Compare possible routes and identify evidence needed from partners.

Scope and boundaries

Research describes commercial routes and stated channel roles within the agreed countries. Clients validate local conditions and permissions; the service excludes executing alcohol trades or representing clients to overseas public authorities.

Scope and independence

Lobbying and representation before public authorities are delivered directly by Alcohol Ltd within the UK and only in relation to UK public bodies. We do not undertake or arrange lobbying of foreign governments, legislatures, regulators or international public bodies, directly, remotely or through intermediaries.

International work covers research, commercial analysis, media, publishing and private-sector trade event support. It excludes campaigns to influence non-UK public decisions, representation to non-UK public authorities and arranging others to provide those services.

Commercial research uses sources and documents whose disclosure and use are permitted for the project. Personal data needs an appropriate lawful basis, privacy information and any applicable overseas-transfer safeguards. Investment recommendations, investment transaction arrangements, financial audits and compliance certification are outside this research service.

Client approval concerns commissioned deliverables and factual checks. Editors retain responsibility for independent publication, corrections and removal decisions. A commercial commission does not buy favourable independent coverage, the suppression of legitimate reporting, editorial endorsement or control over our policy positions. Confidential journalistic sources are not made available through commercial client approval.

Our regulated editorial material follows the Editors' Code of Practice, including accuracy, distinguishing fact from opinion and conjecture, privacy and timely corrections with due prominence. IPSO regulates editorial material within its remit; it does not approve our consultancy, research, PR or lobbying services. Advertising is clearly identified where applicable.

Appointments require an agreed written brief and checks on the client, conflicts, sanctions and any applicable registration, disclosure, data-use and permission requirements before work begins. Scope, fees and responsibilities are agreed separately, subject to our service and jurisdictional terms.
