UK Lobbying & Representation for the Alcohol Industry

Prepare and present agreed alcohol industry positions to UK public bodies, with lobbying delivered directly by Alcohol Ltd within the UK only.

The commission

What the work covers

Develop evidence-based representations for alcohol businesses to UK public bodies about UK policy under an agreed client brief, delivered directly by Alcohol Ltd within the UK. Support appropriate written submissions and meetings after client identity, conflicts, responsibilities and applicable registration and disclosure requirements have been assessed.

How we approach the work

  1. Confirm UK-only scope, client identity, mandate, conflicts and applicable registration and disclosure requirements before any contact.
  2. Develop the position and check supporting evidence with the client.
  3. Carry out agreed representations and record responses and actions.

Scope and boundaries

Representation is confined to UK public bodies and delivered directly by Alcohol Ltd within the UK. Client identity, mandate, conflicts and applicable registrations, disclosures and returns are checked before engagement. No privileged access or policy outcome is guaranteed; payments, gifts or hospitality must not obtain improper influence.

Scope and independence

Lobbying and representation before public authorities are delivered directly by Alcohol Ltd within the UK and only in relation to UK public bodies. We do not undertake or arrange lobbying of foreign governments, legislatures, regulators or international public bodies, directly, remotely or through intermediaries.

International work covers research, commercial analysis, media, publishing and private-sector trade event support. It excludes campaigns to influence non-UK public decisions, representation to non-UK public authorities and arranging others to provide those services.

Published research identifies sources, dates and uncertainties. Any UK client representations are separately agreed, with client identity, conflicts and applicable registration and disclosure requirements checked before contact. Commissioning research does not purchase a predetermined policy conclusion.

Client approval concerns commissioned deliverables and factual checks. Editors retain responsibility for independent publication, corrections and removal decisions. A commercial commission does not buy favourable independent coverage, the suppression of legitimate reporting, editorial endorsement or control over our policy positions. Confidential journalistic sources are not made available through commercial client approval.

Our regulated editorial material follows the Editors' Code of Practice, including accuracy, distinguishing fact from opinion and conjecture, privacy and timely corrections with due prominence. IPSO regulates editorial material within its remit; it does not approve our consultancy, research, PR or lobbying services. Advertising is clearly identified where applicable.

Appointments require an agreed written brief and checks on the client, conflicts, sanctions and any applicable registration, disclosure, data-use and permission requirements before work begins. Scope, fees and responsibilities are agreed separately, subject to our service and jurisdictional terms.
