Alcohol Industry Content Research & Fact-Checking

Check factual claims and source evidence in alcohol industry articles, reports and commercial content.

The commission

What the work covers

Review an agreed set of alcohol industry content claims against attributable published sources and authorised original materials. Record the evidence, date, context and unresolved questions so an editor or client can make an informed publication decision.

How we approach the work

  1. Define the material, claims and depth of review.
  2. Check agreed claims against attributable and authorised sources.
  3. Report supported corrections and flag claims needing further confirmation.

Scope and boundaries

Review covers the agreed factual claims, sources and depth of checking, with unresolved issues stated. It does not certify legal clearance or publication compliance; source reuse requires an appropriate licence, permission or applicable lawful exception.

Scope and independence

Lobbying and representation before public authorities are delivered directly by Alcohol Ltd within the UK and only in relation to UK public bodies. We do not undertake or arrange lobbying of foreign governments, legislatures, regulators or international public bodies, directly, remotely or through intermediaries.

International work covers research, commercial analysis, media, publishing and private-sector trade event support. It excludes campaigns to influence non-UK public decisions, representation to non-UK public authorities and arranging others to provide those services.

Commissioned or promotional content identifies the commissioning relationship and advertising status where applicable. Evidence, rights, subscriber permissions and measurement methods are agreed for the intended use. Search work follows relevant platform policies; rankings, traffic and AI citations are not guaranteed.

Client approval concerns commissioned deliverables and factual checks. Editors retain responsibility for independent publication, corrections and removal decisions. A commercial commission does not buy favourable independent coverage, the suppression of legitimate reporting, editorial endorsement or control over our policy positions. Confidential journalistic sources are not made available through commercial client approval.

Our regulated editorial material follows the Editors' Code of Practice, including accuracy, distinguishing fact from opinion and conjecture, privacy and timely corrections with due prominence. IPSO regulates editorial material within its remit; it does not approve our consultancy, research, PR or lobbying services. Advertising is clearly identified where applicable.

Appointments require an agreed written brief and checks on the client, conflicts, sanctions and any applicable registration, disclosure, data-use and permission requirements before work begins. Scope, fees and responsibilities are agreed separately, subject to our service and jurisdictional terms.
